Acts 2: 1And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. 2And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. 3And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. 4And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

This is the season that we are told by the Word of God to observe the feast of Pentecost (Leviticus 23:16). It first began with Moses and the children of Israel. God showed his might and His power by rescuing His people from the bondage of the enemy by God’s mighty hand of power. And then 50 days after the miracle of the Passover God brought His people to His Holy Mountain and he made a covenant with them. God’s Word says that as long as they remained in right relationship with Him and kept His covenant then there was no limit to what He would do for them. He would fight their enemies and defeat them. He would provide all their needs and He would give them peace and prosperity.
2,000 years later God did it again! When His people were gathered together out of obedience to His Word, observing this “appointed time”, God again showed up. 50 days after Jesus delivered us from the bondage of the ruler of this world, Satan; God once again opened up the heavens and confirmed His promises to His people. This is a better promise made with more power and authority. As it was prophesied so clearly by the prophet Jeremiah, “Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah: Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the LORD: But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people”(Jeremiah 31:31-33).
As we celebrate the ministry of the Holy Spirit we are to focus on three things:
1) Learn to celebrate God’s provision. Don’t take any blessing for granted! Marvel the God loves you so much that He brings forth bread from the earth! Be filled with praise! Praise Him with your testimony. Praise Him with singing. Develop a lifestyle of thanksgiving. Praise Him in thank offerings. Celebrate God’s goodness in lavish giving. Praise open heaven for fresh blessings to rain down!
2) Celebrate God’s revelation. Thank God that He has revealed himself to us and that He wants us to know His mind and heart. Fill your mind with His Word! Receive his revelation afresh. Allow your thoughts of God to reprogram your thinking processes! Memorize His promises. Observe how he worked in the lives of men and women who trusted Him. Hunger and thirst for spiritual bread. Let faith arise!
3) Prepare for a fresh release of His spirit. Stay in step with Him, positioned to receive when the heavens open. Obey His directives. Walk by faith. Know that God is opening the heavens! When the day of Pentecost comes, RECEIVE His promise by faith! Spend time with Him. Gather with friends and family who are seeking Him. Enjoy His presence! Rejoice in His goodness! Thank Him for His Holy Spirit! Declare that His power and authority are being released in the earth!
I encourage all believers to believe that God is going to do something MIRACULOUS in your life in this season. He is going to do it as a confirmation that He has all power and authority and that you are a special treasure to Him!
Exodus 19:5 Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth is mine:
Psalm 84:11 for the LORD God is a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.

I wanted to share an article that I came across yesterday. As many of you know that have been following my ministry I have been warning the body of Christ for several years now about the upcoming and strategic plan of the enemy to force the homosexual lifestyle down our throats. We must stand fast and be very clear of what God thinks about homosexuality.

I often wondered about the factors that allowed me so easily to go from a basically good life to a drug dealer/criminal. It took a lot of soul searching but I believe that I came up with a few answers. I began to really look at the black community and what is has become. Why has our culture evolved into what seems to glorify many bad human traits. Our music and our neighborhoods exalt drug dealers and thugs over husbands, fathers, and factory workers. We call our women the b word and the men brag about being pimps and thugs. My grandparent’s generation would never have bragged about being participants of such lowly ghetto activities. I remember using bad grammar as a young man and being told that I was not to act as though I was uneducated. Most of the people that I knew who used improper grammar did so because they didn’t know any better, not because they thought it was something of honor as many do today.

Ephesians 1:  1Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, to the saints which are at Ephesus, and to the faithful in Christ Jesus:  2Grace be to you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.  3Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:  4According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:  5Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,  6To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved………….

9 Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself:……….. 11In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of Him who worketh all things after the counsel of His own will.

As we enter into the New Year I believe that it is a time for us to reflect. The Jews have a concept of looking back with the intent of shaping the future. I believe that is why self-examination and introspection is so very important. The beginning of a year should be a time in which we look over the past year in order to assess where we are going in the upcoming year.

I recently watched parts of a CNN special entitled “Black in America”, hosted by Soledad O’Brien. I must say for the record that I admire Ms. O’Brien; I believe that she is a very talented reporter. I also admire her efforts to tackle the topic of race relations in America. I must say, however, that in one segment I believe that the show went way off course.

I recently came across an article that a few years ago would have shocked me. I am saddened to say that it disappointed me a great deal, but didn’t really bother me like it would have in the past. The headline to the article proclaimed, “Gay Bishop Will Open Inaugural Weekend”. New Hampshire Episcopal Bishop Gene Robinson has been invited to offer a prayer, at the Lincoln Memorial, for an inaugural event for President-elect Barack Obama. The article goes on to quote the bishop in saying,” he doesn’t yet know what he’ll say, but he knows he won’t use a Bible”. However, the statement I found most absurd was when Robinson declared, “I will be careful not to be especially Christian in my prayer. This is a prayer for the whole nation”.
First things first; prayer is communication between man and God. When a Christian prays he should have a purpose behind it. He is speaking directly to God. It is an awesome privilege that the Creator of the universe allows us to speak directly to Him. If we are speaking solely for the benefit of another human, then we are not praying. We are simply talking or giving a speech. If a Christian Bishop does not pray a Christian prayer, then what would be the purpose of praying at all? To pray in any other way would be fruitless.
