While reading a recent article for Newsweek written by Lisa Miller entitled “Our Mutual Joy” (Published Dec 6, 2008 from the Newsweek magazine issue dated Dec 15, 2008), my first reaction was to scream out loud. I then began to sift through a myriad of scriptural quotes that were taken out of context, and the misrepresented concepts that showed little understanding of the tone and spirit of the scriptures.  It has been said of Ms. Miller’s article that, “The Newsweek Cover story “Our Mutual Joy” is flawed on so many levels that it is hard to begin to correct it, yet a correction is warranted.” And so, I will do my best to sift through it, and to offer a true Christian perspective on the sacred institution of marriage, based upon the Holy Scriptures.  I would like to address some of the factual misconceptions.
