This has been a very interesting election to say the least. Both parties are pulling out all the stops. It is more interesting how loosely the term “Christian” is being thrown around.

                I preface my writings by first stating that I am a minister of the gospel of Jesus Christ. My loyalty first goes to Jesus Christ. Everything that I say and everything that I believe is filtered through the filter of Christianity. All my views and all my beliefs are bounced off the authority of scripture. I therefore have surrendered my will, my opinions, and everything else to my belief in what God says in His Word, the Holy Bible. That is how it is supposed to be; if you read and understand the Bible in its entirety it is about the creator of the universe demonstrating His love and His power for mankind through His inerrant word.

No matter what anyone tells you it is foolish to not try to find out what a person believes before you vote for them. If we ignore the very core beliefs of the candidates that are running for office then we might as well just put names in a hat and choose the presidency that way. As a Christian the person who is running for office should reflect my morals and values. I cannot nor should I separate my vote from my values.

A while back there was this issue between Senator Obama and his former Pastor, Reverend Jeremiah Wright, his Pastor for some 20 years. Although Senator Obama called Rev Wright a mentor and a very important person in his life, he attempted to distance himself from the negative remarks that Rev. Wright made concerning race and America. Because of Reverend Wright’s beliefs about the treatment of Black people in the US, he delivered his now infamous sermon where he stated “ G__ d__ America”.

I was recently asked about my opinion on the bailout. The first thought that came to my mind was a motto from my days in the streets. I am going to give it to you exactly as it came to me. You never loan a “crack head” money to pay their rent because 1) they will never pay you back and 2) they will still be a crack head. I believe this very basic principle can be applied to the power brokers of America’s financial system. I am not trying to imply that the leaders of our banking and other financial institutions are drug addicts, but they have the same characteristics of a person in the midst of a serious addiction.
